William H. Sackley, Ph.D., CFA, CFP®.

Dr. Sackley is Associate Dean of the Cameron School of Business at UNCW, and serves as the coordinator of the CFP® certification program. He earned a doctorate in finance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1990 and has been at UNCW since 1999. In addition to the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and serves on the Council of Examiners of the CFA Institute. He has published research in several finance journals, primarily in the area of risk assessment. Dr. Sackley teaches the Fundamentals of Financial Planning module in the CFP® Certification Program.

David Echevarria , Ph.D.

Dr. Echevarria is an adjunct professor in the Cameron School of Business at UNCW. He has held teaching positions at Pennsylvania State University, Saint Joseph's University, and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. Additionally, he served in the corporate arena for Foxboro Company, Bolt Beranek and Newman, Polaroid Corp., and Merrill Lynch. Dr. Echevarria teaches the Investments module in the CFP® Certification Program.

Rik Pugh, M.B.A., CFP®.

Mr. Pugh is a Registered Investment Advisor with Financial Security Advisory, Inc. He has 12 years of experience in the investments and financial planning field, and previously served 25 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Pugh earned an M.B.A. from the University of Central Michigan in 1983. He holds a Series 7 license and a North Carolina Life & Health license, in addition to being a Certified Estate Advisor. Mr. Pugh teaches the Insurance and Risk Management course module in the CFP® Certification Program.

Anita W. Karle, E.A.

Ms. Karle is a tax accountant who specializes in the preparation of individual, partnership and corporate taxes as well as tax planning.  She is the owner of Tax Planning, Budgeting and Preparation in Jacksonville, NC.  She is a graduate of University of North Carolina Wilmington with a degree in accounting and is enrolled to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. Ms. Karle has more than 15 years of tax experience including the provision of Continuing Education seminars in the taxation area for Coastal Carolina Community College. Ms. Karle is currently a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents.   Ms. Karle holds a North Carolina Real Estate Brokers license (inactive). Ms. Karle teaches the Taxation of Individuals course module in the CFP® Certification Program.

Ross Marino, CFP®

Mr. Marino is a Branch Manager with Raymond James Financial Services, Inc. in Wilmington, NC. He has more than 16 years of financial and retirement planning experience. He is active in providing seminars related to investing, mutual funds, stocks, and financial planning in general. In addition to the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation, he holds the following licenses: Series 7, 24, 51, 63, 65, Life, Health and Disability Insurance, Long-Term Care and Medicare Supplement Insurance. Mr. Marino teaches the Retirement Benefits and Planning course module in the CFP® Certification Program.

Rick Graves, J.D.

Mr. Graves is a board certified specialist in estate planning and probate law. Mr. Graves is currently a member of the North Carolina Bar Association Tax Council and is assistant editor and frequent author for the Tax Section Newsletter. He received a Master of Tax degree from Univeristy of Akron, Ohio, and his Juris Doctorate from University of Akron, Ohio. Mr. Graves teaches the Estate Planning course module in the CFP® Certification program.
