- Utilizes a current and growing technology median in the area of iPods, iTunes, and podcasting to give UNCW students another learning tool
- Supports and fosters UNCW’s partnership with Apple iTunes University and the goal to expand that technology as part of UNCW’s teaching, research and service mission
- Becomes the largest scale project to date for the iTunes Univ at UNCW
- Creates an iTunes business library for the podcasts on the UNCW iTunes University website
- The podcasts address relevant business topics that can help students with their classes, staff with their jobs and career development
- Provides a new learning median for disabled students as all podcast transcripts will be dictated into an Adobe PDF document that can take advantage of the ‘text to speech’ functions in Acrobat and for the hearing impaired
- Enhances UNCW’s role as a leading adopter of cutting edge technology in the classroom and University setting by joining Stanford as one of the early adopters of iTunes University for educational purposes
- Creates a paid opportunity for UNCW undergraduate and graduate students to interact and learn on a different level with faculty and business executives by “interviewing” and recording business podcast sessions
- Offers an opportunity for faculty to share their business knowledge, research and area of expertise through a new median (podcasts) that can lead to new opportunities for teaching, research and community service
- Provides a clear roadmap for the sustainability, support and growth of this project beyond the initial grant by finding a business podcast “sponsor/donor” through University Advancement
Sponsorship and support for this project comes from ITSD and the Cameron School of Business
