Global Initiatives

The Swain Center is pleased to announce the launch of the Global Business Initiative, supported by a two-year grant from the US Department of Education’s Business and International Education Program.  Our partners in the Initiative are the North Carolina State Ports Authority, the Cape Fear Chapter of the North Carolina World Trade Association, and the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.

The Global Business Initiative is designed to help businesses and professionals across Southeastern North Carolina become more competitive in our increasingly global economy.  The Initiative will support overseas internships for Cameron School students as well as opportunities for Cameron School faculty to strengthen their knowledge of international business. To raise public awareness of international business issues, the Initiative will sponsor a series of articles and public seminars, which will be posted on this website.  In early 2010, the Global Business Initiative will launch a training program leading to the nationally-recognized Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) designation. (See www.nasbitecgbp.org )

Finally, the Global Business Initiative provides high-quality, low-cost advisory and research services to companies interested in expanding into global markets, finding foreign partners, or attracting foreign investors. For more information on the Global Business Initiative, please contact GBI Director Joe Dougherty on doughertyj@uncw.edu.
