Faculty Biographies


Dr. Tammy Hunt (Chair)

Dr. Hunt is currently Chair of the Department of Management in the Cameron School of Business. She teaches corporate strategy, social responsibility, ethics, and principles of management. In 2005, Dr. Hunt received a UNCW Distinguished Teaching Fellow Award. She has published over 35 papers on strategic decision making, effective teams, management education, and ethics. She serves on the editorial review boards of two management journals and is a member of the Academy of Management, Southern Management Association, Beta Gamma Sigma, ODK, and Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Hunt has coordinated summer study abroad programs for business students to London, England and Marseille, France.


Dr. Martha Andrews

Dr. Andrews teaches in the Human Resources Management area. Her current research interests include organizational justice, ethics, and stress. Dr. Andrews is a member of the National Academy of Management and The Southern Management Association. She has had articles published in the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Business Communication, and Journal of Business and Psychology.


Dr. Craig Galbraith

Dr. Galbraith is currently a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Technology Management, and the GlaxoSmithKline Faculty Fellow in Economic Development at CSB. He also serves as senior project manager for CCAT-SD, a Department of Defense funded technology transfer agency headquarted in San Diego where he specializes in port security issues. Prior to joining the faculty, he was on the faculty of the University of California, Irvine and Purdue University. In addition, Dr. Galbraith has been a visiting scholar at several Scottish universities. He has been involved in several start-up high technology ventures, including serving as Chief Operating Officer of Biolife Technologies, Inc. in California. Dr. Galbraith is also a court qualified forensic business appraiser. He has published 6 books and over 100 scholarly articles in the areas of entrepreneurship, technology management, and economic development in poor, underdeveloped and at-risk communities.


Dr. David Glew

Dr. Glew joined the Cameron faculty in the fall of 2003 after teaching at the University of Tulsa. His research interests are in the areas of work teams, organizational learning and personal values and his work has been published in several scholarly journals. Dr. Glew is MBTI certified and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in organizational behavior, negotiation and managerial effectiveness.

 

Robert Gorman

Bob Gorman teaches Management 350 and Marketing 340. He has recently co-authored a book Re-Working Retirement which will be published by Adams Publishing in December, 2007. He has extensive experience in the Financial Services Industry.

Dr. Stephen Harper

Dr. Harper is the Progress Energy/Betty Cameron Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship. He joined the faculty in 1976. He has written numerous books on management and entrepreneurship. Dr. Harper has received various teaching awards. He has also served on the Board of Directors for a number of corporations and non-profit organizations.


Dr. Robert Keating

Dr. Keating has been a Professor at CSB since 1985. Prior to joining the faculty, he was an instructor at Kent State University, Akron University, Baldwin-Wallace College, Ashland College and St. Louis Community College. Dr. Keating was also a Department Manager for May Department Stores in St. Louis, MO, and is a Certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Trainer.


Vince Lutheran

Twenty plus years senior level marketing and management experience in diverse high technology industries such as communications, semiconductors and robotics. Four years experience teaching various management and marketing courses at UNCW. Member Cameron Executive Network.


Bryce MacDonald

Mr. MacDonald is a business executive with over 30 years of experience in a variety of General Electric businesses, including 17 years as a corporate attorney. He has been a part-time faculty member at the University of North Carolina Wilmington since Fall 2004. From 1999-2002, he was an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Marketing and Management at Siena College. He received a B.A. degree in History from Coe College and the J.D. degree from the University of Maryland Law School. His interests include project management, strategic planning, effective communication, managing the regulatory environment, and the evolution of GE management strategies.


Dr. Jessica Magnus

Dr. Magnus' research interests include work/family conflict, team cognition and communication, whistleblower retaliation, counterproductive work behaviors, and organizational training. Dr. Jessica Magnus teaches in the Human Resource Management area. Dr. Magnus has worked as a Human Resource Manager for a national consulting firm and is certified as a Senior Professoinal in Human Resources (SPHR). Human Performance, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Business Ethics, and Journal of Labor Research.


Dr. Rebecca Porterfield

Dr. Porterfield is the Director of International Business for the Cameron School of Business. She has been the Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, has served as the Associate Dean, Department Chair, and MBA Director in the Cameron School of Business. Prior to joining UNCW, Dr. Porterfield was a Professor of Management at Hofstra University and Mississippi State University. She spent over 15 years in the private sector as a senior financial analyst.


Dr. Howard Rasheed

Howard Rasheed is an Associate Professor of Management and holds a Ph.D. from Florida State University in Strategic, International, & Entrepreneurial Management. His research interests include Innovation, E-commerce, and Entrepreneurship. Dr. Rasheed currently teaches courses in Strategic Management and Managing Innovation and Technology.


Dr. Carlos Rodriguez

Dr. Rodriguez has been a Professor of Management at CSB since 2001. Prior to joining the faculty, he was a Visiting Professor at Syracuse University. During his business career, Dr. Rodriguez worked in the areas of human resources and finance, both in industry and in financial institutions of his native country, Brazil. He has a Ph.D. in Strategy from Florida Atlantic University and a Master’s in International Business from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Rodriguez has been engaged in research investigating factors of competitive advantage in economies with high levels of environmental uncertainty; ethnic and indigenous entrepreneurship; and institutional influences in the process of innovation diffusion. His publications include book chapters and articles in academic journals in Brazil and North America, such as the Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Journal of Small Business Management, RAE-Revista de Administração de Empresas, and RAC-Revista de Administração Contemporânea.


Jonathan Rowe

Jonathan Rowe has been involved with the founding and growth of two technology startups and has also worked as a project manager for IBM Global Services on large scale networking projects in the U.S. and Europe. He helped build the entrepreneurship program at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and has taught undergraduate, graduate, and executive entrepreneurship courses in the United States, South Africa, Greece, Singapore, New Zealand, and Australia.


Thomas Smith

Mr. Smith teaches Management 350. He was an Adjunct Professor at Teikyo Post University in Connecticut. He has extensive experience in engineering and management at General Electric and IBM.

 

Curt Stiles

Dr. Stiles is the author of numerous research articles in major journals in the fields of Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, and Economic history and is co-editor of the book Ethnic Entrepreneurship. He is an active member of the Association of Investment Management & Research and of the New York Society of Security Analysts, and he serves as a founding member of the NYSSA Committee set up to enable university students to participate in the research work of the Society.
