I was born in Niagara Falls, New York, have four brothers and sisters, and grew up traveling around the world as a U.S. Army brat. I graduated from the S.U.N.Y. College at Buffalo, N.Y. with a BS degree in secondary education. After working in the trucking industry for a few years I attended U.T.-Austin where I took undergraduate and graduate business classes and completed my MBA and then PhD in finance, with an econometrics support, at Florida State University in 1996. I taught at Western Illinois University from 1996-1999, Eastern Illinois University from 1999-2000, and have been teaching at UNCW since 2000.
