Thomas F. Keaveney

 

A KPMG senior partner who retired from this global accounting firm in 1995 after 36 years of active practice. Now at the University of North Carolina Cameron School of Business in Wilmington as lecturer in accounting and executive in residence. His teaching and research focus, at the graduate level, is auditing and professional ethics.

At KPMG, he specialized in servicing national and global financial service companies including Citicorp, GE Capital and Mellon Bank. He served these and other major institutions as lead partner responsible to their Board of Directors and audit committees for annual audits and a range of services, including those relating to complex SEC, bank regulatory, trust and risk management matters.

He was headquartered in New York but spent extensive periods of time working on client matters in other major financial services centers including London, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney.

He was the first partner in charge of KPMG’s integrated financial services practice in New York City. While leading this practice the revenue base doubled in three years through new clients and expanded services to existing clients. Later, he served as KPMG’s national and international director for banking with responsibility for all services rendered to banking clients. In this capacity, he focused on relationships with banking regulators and congressional banking committees, personnel development and training, expansion of services and technical excellence in client services.
