This
intensive track and field program for students between the
ages of 8 and 19 offers
one-on-one coaching for discus,
long jump, high jump, middle
distance, hurdles, shot put,
javelin, sprinting, long
distance, steeplechase, pole vault,
and triple jump. Special
sections are devoted to hammer
throw.
In addition to daily training
sessions, staff and guest speakers
provide lectures, films, and
demonstrations on the latest
training techniques. Speakers
also focus on other aspects
of competition including
nutrition, relaxation, and discipline.

PROGRAM: Instructional areas including, warm-ups,
stretching,
mechanics, tactics and strategy for the sprint events, sprint
start, mechanics and techniques for hurdles
(start, take-off,
lead-leg/arm action, trail leg/arm action, touch-down, sprinting
between hurdles, & run-in after the last hurdle), mechanics and
techniques for long jump (hang style or hitch-kick style,
approach run, take-off, actions in the air, and landing),
mechanics and techniques for high jump (flop method, approach
run, take-off, actions in the air, and landing)
Track &
Field Events: Sprinting: 100 meters, 200 meters, and
400 meters; High Jump, Long Jump, and Triple Jump; High
Hurdles (100/110 meters) Low Hurdles (300 meters/400 meters);
Shot Put, Discus Throw, and Javelin Throw.
All that is required is a willingness to learn about
the correct skills and techniques in
track and field events. |
