The SBTDC's Business and Research staff performs a wide range of services for clients, counselors, and the organization as a whole. Our research provides current information on various topics that are both specific to individual businesses and also more generally address the economic climate.

Government Procurement

The purpose of the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) is to generate employment and to improve the general economic condition of North Carolina by assisting North Carolina businesses including disadvantaged, veteran, and woman-owned businesses in obtaining and performing under federal, state, and local government contracts. We provide assistance by offering counseling on selling your products and/or services to the government and by sponsoring periodic seminars which provide a clear, simplified overview of this entire subject area.

Boating Industry Services

Boating Industry Services businesses in North Carolina provide over 20,000 jobs in primarily rural counties and are responsible for over $320 million in sales of boats, motors, and boating equipment annually.

North Carolina SBTDC's Boating Industry Services is the only industry-specific program in the country providing confidential business services such as, business planning, marketing, regulatory compliance, sales to government agencies and international sales.

Technology Development and Commercialization

The SBTDC's Technology and Commercialization specialists provide businesses with one-on-one counseling to assist in the commercialization of innovative technologies. The SBTDC technology team also provides assistance to technology transfer offices at universities and other institutions for the purpose of supporting their development of spin-off companies.
