Start or Buy a Business: Getting Started with the Help of the SBTDC

If you're thinking about starting or buying a business, we recommend that you attend one of our PreVenture Orientation (PVO) sessions. After you've attended a PVO session, and have begun your plan, you may then make an appointment to work with a business counselor one-on-one. PVO's are offered on a regular basis and are free-of-charge. Topics covered are:

  • Should I Own My Own Business?
  • Feasibility Analysis
  • Approaches to Owning Your Own Business
  • Sources of Financing and How to Apply
  • Licensing and Registrations for a New Business
  • The Business Plan
  • The Marketing Plan
  • The Financial Plan

You can review the PVO material online.

These sessions are conducted on a monthly basis, generally on Tuesday, from 12:45 - 3:00 PM. Please call our office at (910) 962-3744 to inquire about our upcoming schedule.

Seminars are held in the SBTDC at UNCW's office classroom. Directions to our office on Campus can be found by clicking here. Free visitor parking is available.

This seminar is free of charge. However, registration for the session is required prior to the day of the seminar. Please call (910) 962-3744 for more information or to register.
